Down but not Out
Hey everyone. Hope you all are having a great beginning of the week and that your weekend was FAB!
My internet is down at my home right now, so I've been unable to post any new work. Darn it! Hopefully, this problem will be dealt with swiftly very soon. In the meantime, I'll try to come visit my blogger buds as often as I can.
Have a wonderful evening everyone!

Beige Suit with Ruffled Jacket -DONNA KAREN NEW YORK
This is a beautiful suit by DONNA KARAN NEW YORK. I've added a few touches but I think I've kept the integrity of the suit's ethereal quality. What do you think?

Woman in Caged Veil
I did this illustration this morning. It can also be found on Dream Out Loud! Design Studio for last week's Illustration Friday theme of "Caged." I put it here on POSITIVELY LOVELY! because it falls under fashion illustration as well. I hope you like it. I'm trying to get more into editorial illustration and I think this would be perfect for a beauty ad. What do you think?
Have a great afternoon everyone.

Dennis Basso
Hello everyone. I hope your weekend is going well so far. This is my latest fashion illustration. These pieces are by Dennis Basso and are featured in the July 2009 issue of Elle. I love the mixture of textures: satin, feathers, sequins, knit. Hope you like it. I thought the models looked kind of interesting and edgy. What do you think?
Have a great weekend all!

Emporio Armani-Finished
Here is the finished illustration. The shadow areas were a little tedious, but I got through it. I love a good drawing challenge! What do you think?

Work in progress: Emporio Armani
This image is from a past issue of Elle Magazine and is an ad for Emporio Armani. I loved the fact that much of the image is in shadow with a great deal of back lighting. Sort of a challenge to add the color, which is dark and very muted. I think I'm up to the challenge.
Have a great evening all.

Inspiration: Fashion Illustrator Danny Roberts
Okay, I'll be the first to admit it: I'm a fledgling fashion illustrator, just starting out in this business, and I need all the help I can get. So the first thing I did was to start researching other fashion illustrators, both past and present. One of the perks of research is the potential to discover fantastic talent that you otherwise may never have known. How wonderful it was for me when I found one extremely talented young fashion illustrator/artist by the name of Danny Roberts. Those of you who are familiar with this part of the industry must already know about Mr. Roberts. I, on the other hand, was like a kid in a candy store when I visited his website and blog Igor+Andre.
When I contacted this amazing talent, Danny graciously allowed me to use some pics of his beautiful illustrations for this feature on my new blog. So, without further adieu, (I always wanted to say that for some reason) here are some of the brilliant and beautiful illustrations of Danny Roberts.
Thanks Danny for making the world a more creative place.
Don't you just love the color on this one?

A Well-Dressed Woman Greeting Card #1
This is my first collage greeting card in the "A Well Dressed Woman" Series. It's called "A Woman of Style and Substance" and was made especially for my friend Dena Elwood over at Dena E's ~ God~ Everyday Living~and ~Dream Doodlers Art Blog. She's such a wonderful lady with the sweetest spirit. I cherish her friendship very much.
Hope you like this card. There will be more to come.

A Well-Dressed Woman
Hello all, and welcome to POSITIVELY LOVELY! This is a new venue for me and I am really excited about this blog. I am trying my hand at fashion illustration and instead of just showcasing it on one of my other blogs, (I have a children's illustration blog as well) I decided to create a blog specifically for the fashion illustration. I hope you'll join me on my journey to establish myself as a professional and working fashion illustrator, I think it will be fun.
The illustration below is a collage I created as my logo for a new line of greeting cards called "A Well Dressed Woman." I was prompted to do so by a wonderful blogger friend of mine, Dena of Dream Doodlers. She sent me a lovely card of her own design through the snail mail and I instantly became inspired to reciprocate. For more information on Dena's lovely work, you can visit her blog here.
In the meantime, please enjoy "A Well-Dressed Woman." What do you think?
